Launching the World's Thinnest and Lightest Tablet

23 January 2012

Sydney, AUSTRALIA – 24 January 2012. The world’s thinnest and lightest 10.1” Tablet – the Toshiba Tablet (AT200), is leading a field of superior power and performance in Toshiba’s refreshed consumer line up in Australia.

Unveiled today by Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited, the range boasts a number of new, high-performance treats, including the latest addition to the Ultrabook™ line-up – the 14” Toshiba Satellite U840.

“We all want to look good on the move, but without compromising on the power or technology at our fingertips,” said Justin White, Product Marketing Manager, Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited. “Our thin, light and sleek tablets and ultrabooks pack a serious performance punch whether you’re settled in at home, hard at work in the office or out and about.”

Heading up the range is the Toshiba Tablet (AT200), the new world benchmark in ultra portability*. Weighing in at only 535g and at 7.7mm thick, the AT200 is the thinnest and lightest 10.1” Tablet in the world. It also boasts a Wide View HD screen, dual cameras and a range of ports for superior entertainment and connectivity. The AT200 runs on the Android™ 3.2 platform and will be available in retail stores from early February.

“This smart and stylish Tablet is perfect for trendsetters on the move. Super thin yet extremely powerful, you can do anything from emailing on the fly to watching movies in HD or keeping up with the latest videos on You Tube. There is strong music and video playback quality even in really noisy surroundings,” continued Mr White.

“The mini HDMI port lets you connect to a big screen TV, micro USB 2.0 makes it easy to transfer data fast and a micro SD card slot lets you expand your onboard storage or easily transfer files from a digital camera. Toshiba helps you connect to your world.” Mr White said.

Satellite U840 Ultrabook™
Next up is the Toshiba Satellite U840 with a new 14” screen, delivering a stunning lightweight design, power and functionality in equal measure. Featuring a 14-inch screen, 8GB RAM, hybrid 320GB Hard Drive with 16GB Solid State Drive, as well as USB 3.0 and a range of connections, the Toshiba Satellite U840 leaps ahead in performance.

“At first glance it’s the bigger 14-inch screen on the Toshiba Satellite U840 that really catches your eye, but its features aren’t purely cosmetic. With a more powerful hard drive there’s no compromise in performance or functionality. Accessing more of your content has never been so quick and easy,” Mr White added.

“We’re continually innovating at Toshiba and raising the bar with each new product. Increased RAM, memory and screen size are just some of the standouts in the new range, guaranteeing Australian consumers both performance and portability in one,” Mr White added.
